Author Coaching Video Call
The editing journey can be exasperating at the best of times and exhausting at the worst. As we review your manuscript together, you may encounter moments where you need a little extra support. For example:
🐾 The editorial review letter highlighted character motivation as an area of your manuscript that needs a little sprucing. I can answer any in-depth questions you have about my feedback and provide some resource material to give you extra support.
🐾 The first round of line edits noted that your way of writing dialog breaks a few style rules, but you feel this is a key component of your writing style. You can set up a video call to share your concerns and we’ll figure out how to meet in the middle.
🐾 Halfway through the editing process, you find yourself struggling with how to address some of the suggested revisions (e.g., different words to replace echo words, how to deliver a strong hook at the start of chapter ten, what parts of your character’s physical appearance are essential and which are fluff, etc.). We can talk through the area(s) you’re struggling with and get you back on track.
Book your Author Coaching Video Call here. Please be as specific about your editing/writing needs as possible. This helps me collect resources and reference material in advance that I’ll share during our call.
Brainstorming Video Call
Being spoiled for choice with new story ideas is exciting at first, and then it can turn into a muddled mess of vines twisting up the mental walls and blocking your creative flow. Rather than filling pages and pages with new adventures and great tales of triumph, you find yourself:
🐾 Working on the first draft and needing some help working through one or two elements (e.g., the protagonist’s character design, a subplot about a hedgehog with a dream of having his own garden, etc.).
🐾 Coming up with a new character/subplot halfway through the first draft and wondering if/how you can rework the narrative to accommodate it.
🐾 Frowning at your initial description of the kingdom’s landscape as you try to make it fit with other story elements.
Book your Brainstorming Session here. You have the option to select either a 30- or 60-minute session. Please provide either a short synopsis or the book—or, if you’re struggling to get started, the general idea/theme of your story—and identify the biggest area(s) that you’re struggling with.
Block Breaker Call
Every writer knows the phrase, and every writer dreads it: the block. Despite your initial excitement and eagerness to open a new Word document—or crack open a brand-new notebook—you’re now:
🐾 Stuck halfway through chapter three, right in the middle of an intense dialog scene.
🐾 Unsure of how to write an opening scene that will have your audience’s attention in a vice.
🐾 Filled with the intense desire to write and no idea about where to begin.
Writer’s block is completely normal, and you can absolutely smash through it. Book either a 30- or 60-minute Block Breaker Call here. Please be as detailed with your writing needs as possible. This will help me prepare follow-up questions for our call and gather resources to address your specific concerns.
